Hey everyone! This week has been a wonderful week!
We had Christmas conference this last Wednesday, which was alot of fun to be with the other missionaries! We had a wonderful Christmas and Christmas eve. We were able to spend the time with members in our area that were gracious to allow us to join them in their holiday traditions. Thats probably my favorite part about serving a mission during the holdiays! I get to see all the cool family traditions that make it that families special holiday. We also have some good potential investigators on the horizon, which is always very exciting. This week I also gain the privilege to be able to go back to some baptisms of past investigators so I will be excited to share that experience with you next week!
My thought from this week comes from my reading in Helaman!Helaman 14:3-4, 203 And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.
4 Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day, as if it were one day and there were no night; and this shall be unto you for a sign; for ye shall know of the rising of the sun and also of its setting; therefore they shall know of a surety that there shall be two days and a night; nevertheless the night shall not be darkened; and it shall be the night before he is born.
20 But behold, as I said unto you concerning another sign, a sign of his death, behold, in that day that he shall suffer death the sun shall be darkened and refuse to give his light unto you; and also the moon and the stars; and there shall be no light upon the face of this land, even from the time that he shall suffer death, for the space of three days, to the time that he shall rise again from the dead.--
i love these three versus because it is really symbolic of our own lives! When the Savior comes into the world and we accept him into our day to day lives. He will lighten our day and be the very light of our days. And in contrast when we reject the Savior and turn away from him in our day to day lives we darken our lives and distance our selves farther and farther away to the point we will find our selves in a bitter darkness. May we remember to embrace the gift of our Savior not just for Christmas but for the duration of our lives.
Keep smiling!
Love, Elder Gerrard
