Are we Looking beyond the Mark - Week 87

MAY 14TH, 2018

Hey everyone!

This week was quite a miracle to see everything come together for the baptism! It was a really wonderful service overall! We even had some other investigators come and check it out as well!
Just yesterday we set another investigator on date for baptism for june 16th, which was a miracle too since he has been meeting with missionaries for years and years. Slowly but surely God is preparing a way for us to find the individuals he has prepared. This all being said the adversary has really been working hard on our investigators. We just keep trying to bring the spirit into their lives as much as we can and hope that they can stick with it.

My thought for the week comes from my reading in Jacob 4:14-15.

"14 But behold, the Jews were a stiffnecked people; and they despised the words of plainness, and killed the prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall; for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it. And because they desired it God hath done it, that they may stumble.

15 And now I, Jacob, am led on by the Spirit unto prophesying; for I perceive by the workings of the Spirit which is in me, that by the stumbling of the Jews they will reject the stone upon which they might build and have safe foundation."

Specifically verse 14 was pretty interesting to me as it talked about how the Jews were a stiff necked people. I have found with many people that don't want to listen to what we have to share are often caught up with "that doctrine" or "belief" that they dont want to even consider anything else. Its interesting that this is exactly what the Jews were doing. they were looking beyond the mark at things that wont help them understand in plainness.
