I am a Child of God - Week 90

June 4, 2018

Hey y'all

This week was pretty good! Elder Cummins is a pretty awesome guy. We got a new investigator in Garden valley branch this week. We set up a time to do some yard work( keep in mind this is in the mountains) SO really when I say yard work what i mean is we mowed her wild grass and picked up pine cones. It was a good time.. we had to fight off all the mosquitoes but good thing she had some bug spray. While we were picking up pinecones, we taught her the first discussion and she was really interested!  Hopefully we will be able to get her to come to church this Sunday! Ill be playing the cello in sacrament as well!

We also had a really good experience with our investigator Corbin. We wanted to get him to this baptism in Emmett, which is about 45min away from Horshoebend. The only issue is that we needed to find a ride for him to be able to get there. So we were doing any and everything to try and make this happen. Then at like 11:59 pm his grandmother texted us that we could take him to this baptism so in the morning we found him a ride and we were able to get him to the baptism. In our last lesson I felt impressed to promise him in the name of Jesus Christ that he would feel the spirit in the baptism. When we talked to Corbin he said that he felt "tingly" throughout the whole baptism service. That was a pretty exciting thing to hear!

We had our baptism interview with one of our other investigators and he passed his interview. SO on June 16th we will have another baptism in Horshoebend. Its pretty exciting since we have all of his missionaries coming to see his baptism. He has been investigating the church for 4 years! I also found out that one of my other investigators will be gettting baptized in Nampa on the same day, which is super exciting to hear as well.

My thought for the week comes from some reading in Ether.
In chapter 12 verse 18 we read:
"And neither at any time hath any wrought miracles until after their faith; wherefore they first believed in the Son of God."

I really thought how wonderful this verse was. Simply because its a reminder of what our priorities need to be. If we FIRST be believing and have hope in our Savior, Jesus Chris, we will truly see the miracles come because of Him. This thought became even more comforting while driving through the country landscapes of Sweet Idaho while we were listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 2014 general conference sing a version of  "I Am a Child of God." What caught me by surprise was the addition of the fourth verse.

I Am a Child of God,
Which promises are sure,
Celestial glory shall be mine if I will but endure
(chorus)
Lead me, guide me, walk beside me,
Help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do
To live with him someday.

Brothers and Sisters, I know that the promise that we are Gods children is indeed sure. I know that we can be in heaven with our families once again, and all things will be made right if we but endure through the things before us. But remember miracles can and will still happen in this life.. we just need to first be believing in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
