Good Afternoon!
Well being at 21 months now I thought it was never going to happen to me on the mission.. but I can now say that I received my first hard core farms tan in Idaho this week. (now I know what you must be thinking.. Elder Gerrard?? Tan?? yeah right! well... your not wrong..But! We did alot of service this week! We helped build a section of fence about an acre long on Tuesday, and then we helped another lady with her backyard that had grass up to your knee all over on Friday. it was so thick we used this mega lawnmower weed wacker thing and then just racked up the grass.
It was all pretty fun stuff but next time.. ill wear sunscreen.
Missionary work wise we have been just rolling along we found 4 new potentials this week so we hit our goal of finding 3 a week so hopefully we will switch over some of our potentials into new investigators! Its been raining abunch in idaho right now too, which has made it pretty fun reminds me of the Las Vegas showers. This is the beginning of the last week of this transfer so thats pretty crazy! Next time I write will be on Tuesday and odds are Ill have a new companion as well! Thank you to all that keep us in your prayers! I know we will hit our goals we just have to keep working hard!
My thought from this week come from Gerald Causse talk from General Conference he said,
" I promise you that as you strive to be on the Lord’s agenda, nothing will become more important than finding those people you can help and bless. At church you will focus on teaching individuals and touching their hearts. Your concern will be to foster a spiritual experience rather than organize a perfect activity, to minister to your fellow members rather than check a box for the number of visits you have made. It will not be about you but about them whom we call our brothers and our sisters."
This scripture reminded me of the verse in the Book of Mormon. Jarom 1:4
"4 And there are many among us who have many revelations, for they are not all stiffnecked. And as many as are not stiffnecked and have faith, have communion with the Holy Spirit, which maketh manifest unto the children of men, according to their faith."These two principles are quite interrelated. I know that the promise that Elder Gerald Causse extended is very true. When we focus on the Lord's agenda we will see so much success in our callings and even to do missionary work. A key to all of these is to do as Jarom says. We MUST be able to have faith and not be stiffnecked to receive revelation from the Lord. My plea to each of us is to be believing that God wants to speak to us about our personal goals and aspirations! I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
